Ledger Live — manage your crypto with clarity and hardware-backed security

Ledger Live is the trusted companion for Ledger hardware wallets. Monitor your portfolio, send and receive assets, access staking and DeFi features, and sign transactions securely — all from one unified interface.

Overview

Designed for both newcomers and experienced crypto holders, Ledger Live pairs with your Ledger device to keep private keys offline while providing the usability of a modern app. Whether you're tracking NFTs, staking native tokens, or interacting with decentralized exchanges via your device, Ledger Live is the bridge between secure custody and everyday blockchain activity.

Key features

App catalog & integrations

Install blockchain-specific apps on your device, and connect Ledger Live to popular wallets, bridges, and marketplaces for a seamless experience.

Swap & exchange partners

Access in-app swap services powered by trusted partners to convert between assets without exposing keys.

NFT management

View and catalog your NFTs alongside token holdings with media previews and metadata where supported.

Security model — hardware-first, privacy-aware

Ledger Live is designed to complement hardware security. The app acts as an interface: private keys never leave your Ledger device. Transactions are constructed in Ledger Live but must be cryptographically signed on the device itself. This separation reduces exposure to malware or remote attacks while keeping the app feature-rich.

Secure signing

Each transaction request is displayed for review on your Ledger device. The device enforces transaction details and prompts you to approve or reject — preventing unauthorized activity even if your computer is compromised.

Data minimization & privacy

Ledger Live only accesses blockchain data required to show balances and transactions. Sync data is stored locally by default and can be encrypted; Ledger does not custody your funds or private keys.

How Ledger Live works — step by step

  1. Install & connect — Download Ledger Live and connect your Ledger device via USB or Bluetooth. Initialize or restore an account if necessary.
  2. Install blockchain apps — Use the Manager to install apps on your Ledger device for the chains you want to use (Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, etc.).
  3. Add accounts — Add accounts to Ledger Live to begin tracking balances and transaction history for each chain.
  4. Perform actions — Send/receive, delegate, or swap tokens. Each action requires explicit confirmation on the Ledger device.
  5. Keep software updated — Ledger Live notifies you of app and firmware updates to help maintain compatibility and security.

Integrations & ecosystem

Ledger Live is not an island: it integrates with a growing set of partners and wallet connectors to give users flexibility. Use Ledger Live with browser connectors, third-party wallets, decentralized exchanges, liquidity platforms and NFT marketplaces — maintaining hardware-backed approvals for sensitive actions.

Swap partners

Access in-app liquidity from selected providers.

Staking providers

Delegate tokens via vetted validators and services.

Third-party apps

Connect to DeFi dashboards and marketplaces while keeping your keys on-device.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Ledger device to use Ledger Live?

Ledger Live provides the interface, but a Ledger hardware device is required to sign transactions securely. Some read-only features may be available without a device, but private keys must remain on hardware for secure operations.

How do I back up my accounts?

Back up your recovery phrase during device initialization and store it offline in a safe place. Ledger Live does not store recovery phrases for you.

Is Ledger Live open-source?

Many components and SDKs that power Ledger Live are open-source; Ledger publishes repositories and documentation to facilitate audits and community review.
